			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p><font face="Arial" size="2"><font size="-0"><tt><font face="Comic Sans MS" size="3">YABBA - stands for Young Australiansâ€™ Best Book Award. YABBA is a not-for-profit organisation formed in 1985 run by a volunteer committee to: encourage and promote childrenâ€™s reading of Australian childrenâ€™s fiction and to develop children into discerning readers, who will express their opinions about books, including voting for their favourites.</font></tt></font></font></p>
<p><font face="Arial" size="2"><font size="-0"><tt><font face="Comic Sans MS" size="3">The YABBA awards are a  childrenâ€™s choice book award in 4 sections, presented  annually.</font></tt></font></font></p>
<p><font face="Arial" size="2"><font size="-0"><tt><font face="Comic Sans MS" size="3">The sections  are:<br />
Picture Story Books<br />
Fiction for Younger Readers<br />
Fiction for Older  Readers<br />
Fiction for Years 7-9</font></tt></font></font></p>
<p><font face="Arial" size="2"><font size="-0"><tt><font face="Comic Sans MS" size="3">Each year:<br />
Children  nominate Australian childrenâ€™s fiction books that have been published in the  last ten years to create a short list.<br />
Children vote for their favourite books by a specified date in October,(usually International Childrenâ€™s Day). The winners are announced at the award ceremony where authors and illustrators receive YABBA citations presented by children.</font></tt></font></font></p>
<p><font face="Arial" size="2"><font size="-0"><tt><font face="Comic Sans MS" size="3">Currently YABBA is  seeking title nominations for the YABBA 2008 shortlist from students across  Victoria.</font></tt></font></font></p>
